Hand & Foot Pattern – 3’s in 16th Notes P2

In this lesson we carry on from part 1 and explore some other sticking variations and also try playing the phrase in a different feel. The alternating sticking is very cool.

Starting at 2:12 and 2:34 It sounds like your playing in triplets, Could you tell me where the hi hat left foot is placed when playing in this, I’ve been trying to get this it’s very cool thanks again Louie.

    • Hi Tom…be sure to look at the PDF transcription. Play the pattern just on the snare & bass drum with the left foot hi-hat playing quarter notes. We are playing 16th notes here so the left foot hi-hat plays every four notes but the sticking is in groups of three. Start slowly and follow the PDF and you’ll get it. I wasn’t playing triplets at any time….you mustn’t let your ear get tricked by the hand pattern being groups of three.
