Building Your Own Vocabulary – Triplets P2

Moving on – now we’re using singles AND doubles, still 16th note triplets of course, and still only the snare drum. There are only really a few sticking you need to know – RLL, LRR, RRL, LLR etc – but it’s important to go very slowly and try to piece them all together.

In the end, you want to only be thinking about accents/rhythmic figures/melody and then fill in all the gaps in-between those accents with singles or doubles. Sound simple, right? It is but that doesn’t make it easy. Triplets are particularly hard when it comes to putting singles and doubles together and adding accents.
