Play-Along Lesson – Drum Solo Loop from ‘Little Trees’

There have been quite a few requests for some loops from the play-along songs so here is the first lesson featuring a 10-minute-long MP3 with the drum solo loop from ‘Little Trees’.

In this detailed lesson I talk about what I played in the actual take – the grooves and soloing ideas – but more importantly, I talk about how to approach playing over vamps like this and how to play musically. You can use this MP3 to practice in a number of different ways – it’s something I used to do for hours at a time. You can practice grooves, vocabulary and soloing while also working on your time and sound. Try to let your imagination and creativity take over so that you can stumble upon new things and then work out exactly how to make an idea fit with the accents in the music.
