Dennis Chambers Phrases – 32nd Note Groove Lick

You’ve probably seen Dennis Chambers play this phrase many times. I’ve heard him play it on many records and seen him play it on video but it was always a mystery to me what the actual sticking for this phrase was and how he played it. After seeing one demo where he slowed it down, I managed to understand what it was. It’s very simple (just a few 32nd notes at the start of the groove) but it’s tough to execute.
