I remember you mentioning that great players play simple things at a very high level of execution.
This is one of those licks — simple, but sounds great up to speed right out of the box.
Do you ever play the doubles on toms, Louie? And if not.. why not?
Hi Mike! That’s true about the simple things played well. Sometimes I’ll play doubles on the toms. With this particular phrase, probably not. But I have been trying to play more doubles generally and sometimes I play phrases that use doubles on the first rack tom for example. Doubles do tend to get a bit lost on the toms though, particularly the bigger drums.
