Vocab Lesson – Stepped Hi-Hat Lick

This is a cool and unusual phrase because it starts with a hi-hat foot note. I’ve included a few examples of placing it in different parts of the bar and added a few notes to make a really cool one bar fill. It’ll sound great used in straight or swung grooves.

Do you know anymore Dave Dicenso type fills? I was just curious, i am huge fan of him also.
He’s great, yes. I know a couple more that I learnt years ago…gotta dig out the transcriptions. It’s on my list of lessons. Some great play-alongs coming up very soon, too!
