Here’s a 32nd note phrase that’s a great example of how changing the orchestration slightly, or changing the leading hand can totally alter the sound.

Love it. What are your in-ears, Louie ?
Hi Ferg. These are 3 driver ears by Alclair. They’re great. Just started looking at Bellos…they use new technology and mixture of custom mould and rubber tips instead of the plastic moulds going right into your ear canal. Helps with fatigue & also better fit apparently. I have very narrow ear canals so it’s always difficult for me to find in-ears that are comfortable & fit well.
That’s really interesting. Thanks, Louie! I’ll check them out.
Nice Louie 🙌🏼, I play a similar thing but with a single kick so it’s phrased evenly as 16th note triplets – LRKLRK.. with the lefts and rights alternating as you do between hats and snare/FT. I tend to feel it quite swung it so kinda becomes phrased as a 32nd/16th LRK ruff but starting on the ‘a’ of 2. Yours felt quite accessible when I saw it… but it ain’t 😂. That 7 note snare grouping is so nice as a lead into it 👌🏼. Thanks!
Yes, it’s deceptively difficult, especially with the double kicks…but it’s a great test in control & execution!
