Building Your Own Vocabulary – Triplets P1
Hello, Login to start. Not a member? Join Today!
Now we’re moving on to triplets – often under-practiced by many drummers. Of course, now all the stickings are different – no more 4’s and 8’s but 3’s and 6’s instead.
Same thing applies here as it did with the 16th’s – snare drum only, single strokes only!

Hi Louie,
Can you explain me how you do to never have the same drums on yours vidéos? 🙂
Stéphane
Hi Stéphane! Well, I had problems with my black Gretsch kit…the shells weren’t good…different thicknesses and different amounts of gum, so I sold it. The only kit I could buy that didn’t take 6 months to arrive was the Yamaha. They always sound good so I just bought one of those. I liked it but it wasn’t really my thing. So I got a great deal on a Gretsch and this time got great shells…I liked that kit a lot. But, Gretsch are not very good with online presence and social media and it’s always hard to get a Gretsch USA on tour. Oh, and the Heuer kit I just borrowed for a while. Now I have a new deal with Pearl and I have always loved their drums. It’s been very interesting to try all these drums for long periods…I have learned a lot about how shells are made and what kind of sound I like!
Thanks for the question! This would be a good thread in the Q&A section….if you want to chat more about this then perhaps post over there and I’ll respond!

Great lesson! Nice opportunity to play along with you at end of the video. Just did the trading 4’s lessons and thought how fun it would be to have them added at the end of future lessons!
Glad you like it, Peter! Will be doing more of these soon!
