Practicing with a Metronome – Part Two

Here’s a something that seems simple but is definitely not easy. We can leave the click playing quarter notes but by changing where we start playing, we can make the click play off-beats (all the + notes). Getting comfortable playing along to the click on the ‘and’ can take some time so don’t be alarmed if it’s difficult at first.

After playing some grooves and general vocab (as discussed in the lesson), next try to play the rhythm tree/scale from lesson one with the click on off-beats. Perhaps just choose two note rates and flick back and forth between them before you attempt the whole scale.
