So, hopefully you’ve go used to playing around the drums using the groups of two we dealt with in the first lesson (and using the group of three as the turnaround). That exercise will give you a good foundation and help your speed, endurance and movement around the drums. The idea is it’ll also teach you to improvise with these fast runs around the toms. It is good, however, to have some examples of set fill ideas to use in real-world situations. Here are few examples of fills containing short bursts of 32nd note runs.
