Rhythm Section Workshop w/ Janek Gwizdala – Part 1

I recently got together with world-renowned bassist Janek Gwizdala for a jam at my studio. Janek and I have been playing together for many years and know each others playing very well so we also took the opportunity to film an hour-long conversation about music and rhythm section playing and how we deal with various situations on the bandstand.

In this first part, Janek started a bass line and I proceeded to join in however, unbeknownst to me, I was hearing the ‘one’ in a completely different place. This gave us a great starting point for the conversation. Parts 2 and on will follow soon!
