I’ve heard Gary Novak use this phrase a lot and it works great for setting up accents or pushes. Very simple sticking but not easy to execute cleanly so start slow and aim for control!

Nice inspiring lick. Interesting new setup. What meinl cymbal is it that you have at this unusual angle. It sounds great with the rest of cymbals.

That cymbal is an 18″ Byzance Jazz Thin crash. I don’t normally use 18’s much anymore but it works great for a quicker option in this setup amongst the bigger crashes!
