Louie, I really dig the experimentation with different setups. It’s real food for thought, but, you absolutely burn with hats on the left and 12, 13, 14, 16.

Yes, it’s great to experiment. You learn a lot about you’re playing and a lot about music – what’s required, what’s really necessary and what isn’t. I still LOVE the setup I came up with with the hats on the right, BUT, while recording a pop tune last month it was fascinating to learn that my feel was much better with a traditional setup. I recorded several takes on both setups and my feel was a lot better with the hats on the left…even though I hate it!!!!
